Well its a bit 'past its best' but I love this little hotel ... it must have been a wonderful building in its day. Despite the cranky air conditioning unit in the bedroom (very noisy, but does the job), the mini bar which isn't (just a little fridge) and the good old-fashioned bedsheets and blanket ... sheets with 'hospital corners' it has a lot of character and I much prefer that to the soulless glossy business hotels.
Breakfast in the rooftop restaurant - David is never at his best in the mornings .. Mr Grumpy
The view from our bedroom window is a bit grim ... the 'back side' of the hotel .. but it has its advantages. The kingfisher I mentioned in a previous post has a couple of favourite perches nearby and this morning I managed to catch him on camera
and look who else put on a show for us ... the photos aren't great as this palm tree is just a little too far away for my camera to get a clear shot but it was lovely sight this morning
and what could be better than one woodpecker? Well, two of course!
We were out for around 6 hours today and got back to our room very hot and sticky around 4pm to see the kingfisher back on a different tree .. obviously he has morning and afternoon preferences

Isn't the last picture a Kingfisher too, it looks the right shape but not the same colour as the first one? They are such beautiful birds
ReplyDeleteLove the rooftop restaurant and the kingfishers and woodpeckers.
ReplyDeleteHi Jenni
ReplyDeleteWell done for spotting the deliberate error ... of course the last photo is also of a kingfisher (not woodpecker and I mistakenly said). The kingfishers do look quite different when viewed from the side as you see more brown colour. Their backs are the most beautiful blue colour. I've got a (fuzzy) photo of one in flight and the blue feathers are so bright
