Around 5.30pm we moored up and were
met by the 'company' boat for a gentle meander through the smaller
waterways. The 'company boat' turned out to be a narrow canoe with
a man and paddle … we were a little worried about getting in and
out of it carrying cameras but we had 3 guys steadying the canoe
whilst we seated ourselves. There were narrow planks/benches for us
to sit on (only wide enough for one person) so I sat on the front
one, David was behind me and our oarsman sat at the back. The
bench was the most uncomfortable thing I've sat on for years but I
was scared to shuffle around too much for fear of rocking the boat,
literally, so am feeling a little bruised/tender in the nether
regions today. It was worth the discomfort though as the smaller
backwaters are so peaceful and we watched the sunset and chatted with
the children swimming in the warm water. The dusk scenery was very
pretty too
I was pleased with this one as I
couldn't turn around to take the photo so had to hold the camera
above my head and point it in the general direction of David – with
some guidance from him regarding direction

This looks a bit spooky and kind of 3D but its exactly as photographed ... no 'tweaking' at all
you've heard of 'red sails in the sunset' ... well this is 'red sheets in the sunset' - again no 'tweaking' its exactly as photographed and the red colours just stood out in the dusky light

ReplyDeleteYes it was stunning Di. The houseboats themselves are perhaps a bit 'naff' as there are so many of them - although to be fair they keep their distance from each other. But the canoe tour was really special albeit uncomfortable.
